TYPES OF FIREPLACES:

• Direct Vent Gas Fireplaces
• Natural Vent Fireplaces
• Vent Free Fireplaces
• Electric Fireplaces
Direct Vent Gas Fireplaces
Direct Vent Gas Fireplaces do not require a chimney and can be conveniently vented
directly through a wall or roof. The direct vent draws its combustion air from outside while
venting to the same outside air. Direct Vent Fireplaces do not consume warm house air,
nor do they compete with other appliances and furnaces for combustion air. Direct
venting also eliminates cold air drafts and the heat loss associated with other traditional
type fireplaces.
Natural Vent Gas Fireplaces
Natural Vent gas fireplaces take in combustion air from inside your home and vents by-products of combustion outside the home. Also known as a “B-Vent”, a single pipe or liner exhausts combustion by-products outside your home.
Vent Free Fireplaces
Vent Free fireplaces come in an array of varieties with up to 30,000 BTU’s, state-of-the-
art technology and a variety of options and accessories. Zero clearance design allows
ease of installation almost anywhere. Zero clearance means zero or no clearances are
required to combustible materials, primarily at the framing or “rough-in” stage of
installation. Factory-built fireplaces can be attached directly to a floor and will often have
standoffs or “tents” attached to the top. These are not to be removed and serve to keep
framing members at the proper distance from the firebox. When finishing the fireplace,
drywall and other combustibles may come to the edge, but not overlap the black- painted
metal face of the unit. Please check your local codes regarding vent free products.
Electric Fireplaces
Electric Fireplaces have the look of traditional masonry fireplaces but with all the convenience of electric. Just plug it in, sit back and enjoy! Electric fireplaces are safe and install in minutes, creating endless design possibilities for any room.
How do I choose what size fireplace I need?
The ability of one of our fireplaces or stoves to heat your home depends on many different factors such as; how large the room is, the R-value of your wall and ceilings, where the stove will be placed, what sort of floor plan you have, how cold the climate is in your area, and what size fireplace you’re considering. BTU specifications are listed for each of our products and this figure can be used to help you understand the heating requirements for individual rooms in your house.
Can a gas fireplace be installed in a bedroom?
Most building codes allow the installation of a gas fireplace in a bedroom as long as it is a sealed combustion, direct vent model. Your decision should be based on whether heat or aesthetics is your priority. If heat is your first concern, or the existing wood fireplace has had a history of down drafting (smoking), you should purchase a gas insert
Should I have a blower installed with my gas fireplace?
Yes. Fireplaces radiate heat from their fronts but there is still heat that can be withdrawn and closed in behind the wall. While there is an air channel that allows airflow around the firebox, allowing it to absorb the heat via conduction, this channel is somewhat restrictive by its size. Using a fan increases the airflow through this channel and maximizes the heat being conducted from the back and sides of the fireplace.

- Adjust the door pawls to maintain a good gasket seal on the doors
- Touch up painted surfaces as needed with high temperature stove paint
- If catalytic, inspect and clean the catalyst and vacuum out any pockets in the combustion chamber
- Vent Free and Vented Log Set
